I am located in New Jersey. I live in South Jersey. I've been a Jersey girl my whole life. I've left Jersey to different states and I always find my way coming back, even though I complain about how expensive it is to live here. We we really do. I get feedback a lot from my clients that are from other states or across the world and they're like, You're so blunt in your readings. And I always warn people I'm like, I'm sorry, it's just the way that I'm delivering the message and I'm never gonna change that. I think like being truthful and honest is important. So we do have a different personality though. I will agree.

So I'm actually a cancer sun, Leo Moon, Sagittarius rising. And so it was just my season. The summer is always my time to come alive where I'm working on my projects. but I'm happy we're moving out of it because I I'm a professional astrologer too. And the astrology over the summer was pretty crazy. So I'm like, I'm just I need a break. The girls need a break from the planets moving.

I don't know. I always tell my clients, people are always freaking out about astrology and retrogrades. I'm like, it's usually meant to teach you something. So whatever's like leaving us, let it go. Whatever's falling apart, let it fall away. Like you probably need to just get rid of it anyway. So I it is what it is. Yeah.

Good. That's good. But for the most part, things in your perspective are gonna settle a little bit. Is that what I'm hearing?

I think so. I think usually when there's retrogrades, retrogrades could be good. They're not always a bad thing depending on where they are in your chart. But I think there's a lot of upheaval this year. So it's made people really uncomfortable and you kind of feel like raw. But once you move past the rawness, then you you're able to see the way forward again. So I think people are having these like coming to the truth moment about where they need to be in their life due to the astrology.

Yeah, I mean it's scary, but I mean, I guess 'cause I'm spiritual I'm a spiritualist, I'm not afraid of that stuff where I'm like, fine, show me what I need to know, I'll burn it to the ground and start over again, you know, like I have such a trust and a faith in the other side that if everything were to fall apart tomorrow, it'd be painful, but also it just means that you weren't supposed to be in that situation.

Right? You gotta have that perspective that's that's how I get by. I mean, 'cause I've been there so many times, which I'm sure we'll go over, but it's like, you know, I've burned my life to the ground so many times to start over and it just is what it is, you know, you just gotta keep moving on.

Okay, so I had a reading a while ago, like years ago. I think I'm a projector. I have to admit, I'm not so adept in human design, and maybe that's like something I need to explore more. But I think the projector is the one that doesn't generate energy, right? That's me. That's so that's what the spiritualist I went to. That's what she told me. And I said, this makes so much sense about my life where I have to source it from elsewhere because I feel that in my soul. Like I get that.

Exactly. And at the time I was starting my spiritual business and she was like, And you wonder why you're involved in a spiritual business. Like this is what you were meant to be doing. And I I just really did not know anything about it and didn't look any further. It's a lot. Human design is a lot. I really give credit to people that study that because I truly it's it's how I used to feel about astrology. People that were astrologers and I didn't know. It's like it's like unraveling a math equation sometimes. It's a lot of studying. Yeah.

It's a whole science. It is, yes. So my first question that I always love to ask is who is Chelsea? Like who's Chelsea as a soul? Yeah.

Who am I? I have to say, I think I am very like an outgoing person, but I think I, you know, as as I've kind of developed, I guess as my soul developed, I've become a lot more of like the hermit card where I need a lot of peace and quiet. And I feel like spirituality has become like a lot of who I am. And so I really just do love to help people. I feel like I'm always helping people, even when I'm not working. Like people will just randomly start talking to me at the grocery store.
And I feel like I definitely walk between two worlds. I I sometimes am like, I don't feel like I belong here. But like obviously I have to be here on the physical plane to do things, but I also am someone that's very like in tune with what's going on in the other side. So I have to definitely balance that out a lot. I don't know if you resonate with that, but I feel like I'm constantly walking, like one foot in, one foot out, you know? So that's a lot of who I am. Like if you're gonna talk to me, like there is a deep spiritual conversation that's going to happen. It just is the way that it is.

Yeah, I'm I'm not so familiar with those spiritual beliefs and practices. I do see people talking about it online. Like I said, I come from a different perspective. So I don't know any of that. Like I don't know anything about human design. So that's why I was so interested in coming on your podcast because I think you come from a different spiritual background than I do. And I love talking to different people and what they believe and what they know. So very interesting. I'll have to look into it more.

okay. So like different dimensions. Like so it's basically, I understand. Okay. Yeah, that makes sense. I call this like the physical realm, or that's what at least you know, I'm a medium so I could talk to the dead. That's what they always say, like the physical realm. They always are yelling at me. You have to remain balanced in the physical realm. I think it's so easy to constantly be spiritual that you have to remember to take care of yourself and do like, you know, go out there and just, you know, go to that party on the weekend and hang out with other people. So yeah, I've I've become a little bit more.

Yeah, I think a big part of it of our journeys is going inwards because that's also ultimately also enhances your gifts and helps you support your clients and so forth. So so how did we get here? Were you speaking to the dead your whole life? Did your gifts open up as an adult? What did that look like?

No. So I I actually my my journey's pretty crazy. And I'll kind of give you like a TLDR because it's really long, but I know we we only have a certain amount of time today. So I have always been fascinated with tarot and psychics. When I was 18 years old, when I could go get readings, me and my friends on the weekends would go to any psychic in town, get our $20 that we got from work and go get a reading, even if it was wrong.
Because I was always trying to figure out, you know, when was I gonna have a boyfriend? When was I going to have a husband? When I was when was I meeting the love of my life? Like young girls, that's all we think about at that age. You know what I mean? Does he like me? What did this mean? And I'd gone to so many. And so one day I got a recommendation to go to a reader out in Brooklyn. So I took a bus with my friend, I was about 21 at the time, and I was going to do my typical reading. When is my husband coming? When am I gonna do my boyfriend? And

This guy had like this back room with a card table and a pull-out chair. It was no frills, no frills. Like he was legit. I just didn't know it at the time. And he told me that my deceased grandmother was coming through. And she said that I was spiritually gifted and I was going to be a spiritualist when I got older. So I was like really pissed because that's not what I wanted my reading to be about. So I'm leaving Hit the Botanica in Brooklyn and he hands me a tarot deck from his collection. He's like, You should take this.
So I didn't really want to take it. I didn't want to be the tarot reader. I'm like, you did not tell me about my husband today. You know, like I'm kind of pissed. So I take the tarot deck and then I wind up learning tarot over the next seven years. I just was like reading for my friends, but I still did not think I was like spiritually gifted. I kind of forgot about the reading. So then during COVID, I was working in New York and I had to come move back home with my parents because we were just unsure of what was going on and didn't want to pay rent anymore.
And I was going to therapy for depression and anxiety. And so my therapist was like, you should meditate for mindfulness. Like, get yourself into a better headspace. I know times are tough. So I'm meditating and I noticed that someone is talking to me. Like I'm hearing my grandmother. I'm now seeing her. I see her standing in my room now. And it's like my gifts had opened up because of this meditation. And
TLDR again, I just I didn't even want to be a medium. Like I was talking to dead people and it was so overwhelming. I think when you open up that connection to the other side and you're unprepared for it, it is a very overwhelming, emotional, scary experience if you were not expecting it, right? I think a lot of people go on the journey looking for that. See, like I was not looking for it. So it just kind of found me. So anyway, I basically

for the next two years would be a medium. And I opened my business, quit my corporate job, and here I am today. So it just was this weird. I really struggled with it. especially being Catholic. I I left Catholicism for a while because I just wasn't sure that I was able to be there because I'm doing divination, talking to the dead. And I felt very judged by like people in my life that were religious. I lost a lot of friends. They were calling me like demonic and

what I'm doing is evil and wrong and I couldn't help it. Like I tried to turn my gift off, but I think when you're meant for something, it's always going to find you even if you don't want it. But now like, you know, it's been six years. So I'm good now. But in the beginning it was tough. Really tough.

my gosh, I have such a similar journey. So similar. Yes. I learned about my mediumship gift during the pandemic. That's where I first started. I was not looking for it. And when I opened the door, it was terrifying. So

Yeah, and you can't I was like afraid to leave my house because anytime I would talk to someone, I didn't have control over it. So the dead would start coming forward, and then I'm having panic attacks and anxiety. And I knew it wasn't my mental health because I've been in therapy. I was feeling really great. And so I just I think because I wasn't accepting it, it was getting worse, like overwhelming in the background. So yeah, when when you don't look for something and it just shows up, it's kind of jarring. Scary.

Yeah, absolutely, yes. And I love that you started to blend together your spirituality in a way that combined your ancestry with your own beliefs. So can you tell us a little bit about your ancestral side of things?
High Priestess Chelsea (12:06.936)
Sure. So I think this is important, so I'm gonna say it. I left, so I left Catholicism, right? So I'm gonna just say this because it goes into the story. for two years. I had a dream, which I talked about on my podcast. I won't get into it too much here. Mother Mary wound up coming to me in a dream two years after I left the Catholic faith. I was a practicing medium and she basically like looked at me and was like, Why did you leave? And I told her, because I don't belong here.

And no one had said that to me, right? Like it's not like a pre-set it. It's not like I felt that way. And she said to me, if you're made in God's image, he gave you this gift. Where do you think this gift comes from? And I'm like, you're so right. So anyway, I wound up going back into Catholicism. And during this time, I had noticed that people were talking about Italian folk magic online and they were using statues of the Madonna. And you're seeing Catholicism. And she had told me this. She's like, you need to research her ancestral practice.
I want you to come back because you're meant to teach it. My aunt practiced. We just never called it anything because it was just so much like what we thought Italian Catholicism was. We never put like mysticism, magic, a name to it. And now it has a name because they think it has to, because people are trying to figure out what it is. So basically it's us keeping our mysticism that predates the Christian faith. And obviously, when we were colonized over into Catholicism.

We then synchronize saints, Catholicism, et cetera, into our magic and mysticism. So we have people that are healers. me, you know, I help with fertility, evil eye removals, hexes, curses, evil spirits, exorcism, demons, stuff like that. I do divination. I'm able to commune with saints to get people answers and spiritual affliction that they might need removed. And there's like a whole community that practiced this in like the 1800s.
So we're we're working on bringing it back. I think it's been lost a lot. Like through each generation that goes by, we're kind of losing the practice. And my job is to teach people about it again.

Right. I know. That was a lot. But I'm like I had to I feel like it fit the story because I didn't understand it at first. And then now it's like this really big movement online where people are like, my aunt used to practice that. And you're like, Yeah.

Yeah. Can you tell us a little bit about specifically what that looks like?

Yeah, so you mean like some of the practices that we do? Yeah, I could share a little bit. So a lot of the times there's you know, there's different levels to it. Like some people are healers, some people practice just, you know, making protection amulets, our superstitions around the evil eye. But one thing that we do is we are very big on evil eye removals. And I know that's big cross-culturally where people believe in the Molochio and jealousy. So one thing that we do is we use olive oil and water.

To do divination to see if people have the evil eye. And then a secret prayer is passed down to us. You have to be taught on Christmas Eve at midnight. Only. That's the only way you can receive it. And then you have the power to heal people from the evil eye. You could say the prayer like over the phone, and it works. Like I grew up with this stuff my whole entire life. It works. So we have a lot of these strange methods to kind of remove toxic people, bad relationships, evil eye, et cetera. And that's just one that I can publicly share, but

I mean, like we believe that a little pepper charm like protects us from the evil eye. Like we have some really crazy mysticism and superstition. Yeah, it's awesome.

Yeah, so so unfortunately my great aunt she died before I was born. And then the practice, so with us, the practice always is passed to somebody else in the family. And it could be, you know, it it ends when the person dies. Like you're kind of responsible for being the healer of the family until you pass away, or you pass the practice to somebody else, but there can only be one at a time. So no one practiced for a while, and then I fell into this.
And I learned the evil eye removal from a family friend when I was like eleven years old. I just never really thought about it because you're like, what's this weird thing we're doing? Like, you're eleven. Like what what I'm not gonna be using it. But I did learn. So I was very fortunate and I always remembered it. So now I use it.

And so when you started deepening into your spiritual journey during the pandemic, how did you grow your gifts or your business or what did that look like?

So during the pandemic, I'm trying to think. I I was not involved in the Italian folk stuff during the pandemic because I kind of wandered around for a while. Like I was trying to find what works. I think a lot of people are trying to find in today's world what they believe in spiritually. So I've come from all different types of practices where I've tried Wicca, I've tried witchcraft, I've tried this, I've tried that, and I kind of felt like nothing really worked for me. So I was I was dabbling in many of things, but I think that's normal. I think it's okay to kind of like jump around and see what works.

for my business, I honestly don't really know. I I have to attribute a lot of it to my ancestors and like the saints that follow me. People just kind of found me. I opened up this random Etsy store and I was doing tarot readings and mediumship for people and it just kind of took off. I don't know. I think during the pandemic, people were seeking spiritualist. So I don't know if you opened up your business during the same time. And it's not that it was about the business. I mean, like I was told you have to quit your corporate job and do this, or else we're going to make it really.

like horrible for you at work so that you're forced to quit from my from my spirits. And then I noticed like I was about to get fired and I was a great employee. It's just, it's just weird how how it all works out like that.

lot of things. I I feel like, you know, because I've been doing this for over ten years. I mean, I started reading tarot at twenty one. So I'm thirty-four now. So I've picked up a lot of like spiritual spiritual services. astrology, I combine astrology and tarot together. I think like you need both in order to get a a clear picture. So I do a lot of astrology consultations, mediumship, of course. I'm known for that. Italian folk healing consultations. So if you feel like you have the evil eye or

I help with fertility. So women that are working on getting pregnant is really important to me to help them if I can. I take like by a case by case basis toxic relationships, all of that. Yes. Yeah, sure. So, say I I have some patron saints that are involved in my life. Well, first of all, as you can see behind me, the Madonna. ever since she came to me in the dream, Mother Mary has been like very close to my heart, where I listen very much to what she wants me to do and I kind of let her lead me in my spiritual practice. I think I tend to attract a lot of women, women that have been through a lot of harsh things in life. Like a lot of my clients tend to have

rough backgrounds, especially from relationships or fertility issues. So I definitely feel like she shines through me a lot to kind of like be a lighthouse for people. But I also St. Michael, the archangel, he's a big one. And St. Padre Pio is another one. He's an Italian saint and Saint Rita of Cazia. Those are kind of like the saints that are very prevalent in my practice. Also Saint Gerard for fertility, but only fertility workings.

He showed up to let me know like it was okay. I actually saw him like full fledged, have seen him before. and he he really only shows up now if like, you know, things are hitting the fan and it's like bad or or this client, you know, they have like a a malevolent spirit in their house and we have to like get rid of it. Wow. Yeah. I mean, the way that I experience it is I feel the energy and I see that like the image in my mind's eye. So like I've always feel him on my left side and I can see it, but I've never seen him with my physical eyes. So I can't even imagine.

It's it's really crazy. it's only happened to me once or twice, I would say. The second time I was in a dangerous situation, with with like a a spiritual encounter. But yeah, he he was terrifying to like look at fully. I was like, wow, that's why you have that job.

absolutely. So let's say a client is coming to you for help with like they're sensing, I don't know, maybe they're they're going through a tough time in their life. How do you, what are some of the things that the guides tell you that could be going on? Like it's maybe it's a dark spirit, or maybe there's like a toxic person that's involved. What are some of the common things that come up?

Yeah, it's it's usu it usually depends on the situation. So I find a lot of the times people invite the wrong people into their life. So it's usually a relationship, a friendship. remember Italians believe in the evil eye. So a lot of people that come to me, I usually diagnose with an evil eye of, you know, you have people in your life that you're not protecting yourself spiritually. One, so the evil eye, you're just allowing it to come in if you believe in that. But two.

You know, if someone is inherently jealous of you or praying for your downfall behind your back, you shouldn't be friends with that person. Right. Like, and and we all and when I say this to people, they're like, I know exactly who you're talking about. And it's not to like scare them. It's just I think people are afraid to let go of things. Yeah. Yeah. So it's interesting because in folk practice, like they never really focus much on wealth and abundance, but we can kind of translate it to modern day. So one thing that I do is the monocornuto, which I've talked about defend against the evil eye, it also is a good luck charm. So it really it's basically its history is that it's an animal horn.
So back in the day, animal horns were considered signs of fertility, signs of abundance, signs of protection. So we don't make, we don't obviously use animal horns anymore just because of, you know, we we don't want to hurt animals. So they come in like plastic or sometimes ceramic. So I really recommend a monocornuto. Like I said, Italian folk magic is meant to be simple and easy. So we mostly do a lot of our work through symbols, and that one is a really big one if you want to bring in abundance and definitely keep the evil eye out.

I made so many mistakes. Like I said, I let malevolent a malevolent spirit into my home. that was crazy. I never grounded myself. I got have you ever heard of the spiritual flu?

Two a day. and then I would sometimes do tarot readings after. So, like, let's say I was doing like four readings a day. Crazy. Am I crazy? Yeah, it's crazy for me. I think that's insane. It's a lot. I got so sick. I was bedridden for an entire month. When I went to the doctor, I had no symptoms. I had no virus. There was nothing wrong with me.

And I made sure I never did it again. I never did it from that day on. I adjusted my schedule and my ancestors were like, see.

That's like at least what the encyclopedia definition is. And so for me, I think combining both of what I know, I think a mystic is someone that's a truth seeker in a different way. I think we're always looking for more spiritual knowledge and information.

I I get a lot of clients that, you know, they practice certain spiritual practices and they go, Well, why didn't this work out for me? Or why not this? Why not that? And I'm Did you look around? Did you see a sign? You know, I think like in the online world, everything is so perfectly curated in the spiritual space where everyone's doing magic every day, all the time, and their life's just fairies and rainbows and butterflies. And yes, that can be true sometimes, but I think it's looking back on your progression. It's sometimes not an everyday thing. I don't I don't think I have a mystical day every day.

You have to believe in it or you're never gonna see it either.

That's part of being spiritual is trying to figure yourself out. And if you don't give yourself the time to do it, you're never going to experience it. Right. So it's okay to go on a journey. It's okay if you believe something different. I think that's what makes us all very special.
